Adele graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon in May 2006, alongside Leona Lewis and Jessie J. She signed a record deal with XL Recordings 4 months after graduating.

Adele had cut a three-track demo for a class project, that was posted on MySpace, from where XL Recordings found her.

Adele was inspired to have a life in music from the age of 6 by Geri Halliwell of the Spice Girls girl group, and later the pop rock singer Pink, when she was about 14.
