Katy Perry is an American singer songwriter
born 25th October 1984, in Santa Barbara /
California.
Katy became famous in 2008, aged 24, after
releasing her second album, One of the
Boys, with the top songs, I Kissed a
Girl, and, Hot n Cold.
Her first album was based on gospel music,
released in 2001, named Katy Hudson, her birth
name.

Katy really hit the big time with her third album,
Teenage Dream,
released in 2010, with the top song Firework, and the dance beat
songs California Gurls, Teenage Dream, E.T., and Last
Friday Night.
Prism was released in
2013, with the hit singles, Roar, and, Dark Horse. Both songs
became some of the most viewed videos on YouTube.
Other top songs on the album are, This Moment, Double
Rainbow, and By The Grace Of God. Many of the other
songs are dance beat.
Smile was released in
2020 with the top song What Makes A Woman.
Katy began singing in church from the age of 9.
She later had a spell at the Music Academy of the
West in Santa Barbara, then Nashvile, where she
produced the gospel album titled, Katy Hudson, her
real name.
She worked for a while providing backing vocals
for top artists such as Mick Jagger. In 2007, she
signed with Capitol Records, aged 23, where she
produced the album that led to the big time, One of
the Boys.
Katy's favourite other musician is the late
Freddie Mercury of the glam rock group Queen.
