The image right is of the main road
running through Kendal, at the part named
Highgate. This is a long shopping street,
with the Town Hall with a Clock the most
notable building.
The main street has a Pedestrian only
area. The one way system in Kendal directs
most of the traffic down to the Riverside,
where most of the Car Parking is.
The Kendal Market Place is also on the
main street with a Monument. The main road
ahead is named Stricklandgate, with
Windermere Road further on.
Westmorland
Shopping Centre is down to the right at
the Market. There is a large underground car
park below the shopping centre.
The Street Market here is normally held on
Wednesday and Saturday.
New Road down by the Riverside is where
most of the Car Parking is situated.
Stramongate Bridge in Kendal is at the
north side of the River Walk. The road to the
left of the Bridge leads back up to the main
street, close to the Market Place.
This is said to be a good spot to watch
Salmon and Trout leaping whilst traveling
up-river. Late Summer into Autumn is said to
be the best time of year for watching the
fish.
