Oxford is the oldest University in the English
speaking world, with buildings in every style of
architecture from Anglo-Saxon to Medieval / Norman,
Gothic, Tudor, Jacobean, Queen Anne, Palladian,
Georgian, Regency, Victorian, Edwardian and now
Modern.
Oxford also grew in the 1800s and 1900s through
industry such as printing and car manufacturing.
Inspector Morse was a
Police Detective TV series shot between 1987 and 2000
with the main character played by John Thaw. The
series used famous places in Oxford for shoots such
as the Sheldonian Theatre, Bodleian Library,
Ashmolean Museum and New College.
Film Shoot Venues
The Harry Potter film series was shot between 2001
and 2011, with some shoots at Oxford, now popular
places to visit, such as Christ Church College –
Bodley Staircase, Hall & Cloisters. The Bodleian
Library – Divinity School & Duke Humfrey’s
Library. New College – Cloisters, Courtyard &
Tree.
