Cumbrae is situated about 2 miles off the Ayrshire coast at the town of Largs. The Island has a regular ferry service, has one scenic Town named Millport, is popular for watersports, and cycling with a 10 mile road round the Island. One mile south, is the private Island of Wee Cumbre, where few people can visit.

Coaches run about every 30 minutes between the ferry slip on Cumbrae and Millport.
