Shakira is a Colombian singer, songwriter, record producer, and model, born 2nd Feb 1977 in Barranquilla city /north Columbia.

Her first English album, Laundry Service, was released in 2002, aged 25, with the top song, Whenever Wherever, being the top selling single of that year. Other top songs on the album are: Fool, Que Me Quedes Tu, and Suerte - Spanish version of Whenever, Wherever.

Shakira's second English album, Oral Fixation, Vol.2, was released in 2005, with the massive hit, Hips Don't Lie. Other top songs on the album are Illegal, Don't Bother, and Hey You.

Her 2010 single, Waka Waka, This Time for Africa, was the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, one of the most viewed videos on YouTube.

She Wolf was released in 2016 with the top song, She Wolf.

El Dorado was released in 2017 with the top song, When a Woman.

Shakira hit the big time in Latin America aged 13, after her local theater producer, Monica Ariza, managed to get her an audition with Sony Colombia executives. She was signed by Sony to produce 3 albums.

She became famous worldwide in 2002, at the age of 25, after the release of her first English album, Laundry Service.

Shakira's favourite other musician is the late John Lennon.
