Troutbeck is a small village in the Lake District National Park of Cumbria in England, 3 miles north of Windermere town, 10 miles south of Glenridding via the amazing 1,489ft / 454m Kirkstone Pass road. The road from the Kirton Pass Inn west down into Ambleside is real real steep.

This is a scenic village in a valley as picturesque as any in England.

The image below is of Park Farm by Troutbeck. Beatrix Potter bought this farm in 1923. She hired the shepherd George Walker to run the farm, and had a small study there that she used to write books.

The image below is from the Kirkstone Pass road, just north of Troutbeck. This is an amazing looking setting for a sheep fam, with hills on three sides.

The National Trust used to allow visits to the farm, but this seems to have stopped recently. The village of Near Sawrey is now the top place to visit one of Beatrix Potters' former homes.
