Whitby Bus & Boat
Tours
Whitby has Open Top Buses that give tours around the
town. There are also a number of boats that give
tours around Whitby Bay. These boats include a former
Life Boat, and a scaled down replica of Captain
Cook's Endeavour. You just have to wait in line to
take a tour.

Whitby Abbey South
side of town centre. Whitby Abbey is a large ruin
looking over Whitby harbour. There are about 199
steps that lead from the town up to the Abbey, or the
tour buses take you up. Entry about £11 per

Captain Cook Memorial
Museum
In Whitby centre. This Museum is in a 1600s house on
the harbourside where the young James Cook came to
serve his apprenticeship. The Museum displays Cook's
achievements, with ship models and maps, original
letters and artifacts from the Voyages, paintings and
prints by the artists on the voyages. Phone number

Dracula Experience
Whitby centre on Marine Parade. The Dracula
Experience is a tour through the Dracula story with
its connection to Whitby. With animated scenes,

Whitby Lighthouse
At the end of Whitby Pier. Whitby Lighthouse is open
to visitors to climb to the top for great views of
the town. You also get great views of the tour boats
going in and out of the harbour, great photo taking
spot. It is only 1 or 2 pounds to enter.

Whitby North Promenade
North side of Whitby Harbour. The North Promenade at
Whitby has a good selection of kids play such as
pitch and put, boating, karting, trampolines and
more. There is a lot of parking at the North
Promenade, from where it is only a short walk to the
town centre.

Whitby Sea Angling
Fom Whitby Harbour. There are a number of Charter
Boats offering fishing trips out of Whitby. Species
to be caught include cod, ling, pollack, halibut,

Departs Grosmont 6 miles south of Whitby. Magnificent
steam engines and beautiful rural stations, make a
visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway like
stepping back in time. The trains travel between
Grosmont 6 miles southwest of Whitby, and Pickering
16 miles further south.
