Brampton Moot Hall
Brampton Moot Hall is in the town centre on the
Market Place. This octagonal building was built in
1817. It now houses the Tourist Information Centre.
There is normally a Farmers Market here on Saturday.

Brampton Prince Charles
House
Prince Charles House in Brampton is a building now
used as a shop on 24 High Cross Street, next to the
Market Square. This is the building the Jacobite
Prince Charles stayed at when he led his army into
England in 1745. There is a plaque on the wall giving
information.

Brampton Capon Tree
The Capon Tree Monument stands where a famous Oak
Tree once stood, on the southeast side of Brampton on
Capon Tree Road. Six Jacobite Soldiers were hung from
this tree in 1746. There has been a new oak tree
planted by the monument.

Brampton Old Church
Brampton Old Church is about 1 mile west of Brampton
centre on Old Church Lane, by Old Church Farm. The
Old Church was built on the site of a Roman Fort in
the 1100s, said to be constructed with stone from
Hadrian's Wall and buildings.

Talkin Tarn Country
Park
Talkin Tarn Country Park is situated about one and a
half miles south of Brampton. The 65 acre lake is in
120 acres of farmland and woodland, popular for
sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, hire a
wooden rowing boat, and with a pupular licenced
cafe.

Lanercost Priory
Lanercost Priory is two and a half miles northeast of
Brambton, close to the start of Hadrian's Wall. The
earliest parts of the priory are dated from the
1100s, some parts can be visited free, others for a
fee. There is a popular cafe at the priory and many

Birdoswald Roman Fort &
Hadrian's Wall
7 miles east of Brampton, 4 miles past Lanercost
Priory. Birdoswald is the closest Roman Fort to
Bramptom, with one of the best preserved sections of
Hadrian's Wall, a good section to walk. Visit the
wall free, museum & fort has an entry fee.
