Keswick is a
scenic market town in the Lake
District of Cumbria in England, 17
miles west of the M6 at Penrith. Keswick
is on the east side of Derwent Water
(Derwentwater), a popular lake in the
Lake District National Park, that
attracts many tourists with tour boats,
boat hire, and many types of water sports

The area around the lake also attracts
many walkers, hikers, and climbers with
scenic paths, hills, and mountains. Area

Overlooking Keswick on the northeast
side is Skiddaw Mountain at 3,054
feet, fourth highest mountain in
England.
On the west side of Derwent Water is
the very popular 1,479ft Catbells with great views over
Keswick.
The car parks for the 2,848ft Blencathra are situated about 4
miles east.
The 3,117ft Helvellyn car park is situated
7 miles southeast.
The car park for the highest mountain
in england, the 3,209ft Scafell Pike, is situated 9
miles south.

Derwent Island is the largest island
on the lake with a large mansion house
often referred to as Derwent Isle
House, an 18th-century Italianate
house. The house is now run by the
National Trust, only open to the public
for a few days each year.
Keswick Market Square is the centre of
town, lined with hotels, restaurants, and
cafe's. Keswick's market is held each
Thursday and Saturday. The main building
in the square is the Moot Hall with its
famous one handed clock. The building now
houses the Keswick Tourist Information
Centre.
Hope Park
is between the town centre and the lake.
The Park was opened as a golf course on
the 27th May 1927 by Mr J H Taylor, the
British Golf Champion at that time. The
park now contains a 9 hole pitch and put
course, 18 hole obstacle course, 18 hole
putting course, scenic walks, and seating
areas.
Fitz Park
is at the eastern side of Keswick with a
tree-lined section for lawn tennis and
bowls. The other more open section,
contains a cricket club, kids play area,
and multi-function courts for tennis,
football, and basketball.
Keswick has 7 hotels, many hotels in
the country around the town, and a vast
number of B&Bs, Guest Houses, and
Self Catering properties. The Keswick
Country House hotel is a landmark
building, sitting above Fitz Park with
views over the town.
