The Island is situated about 35 miles off the coast at the Town of Oban, or about 8 miles off the west coast of the Isle of Mull, from the village of Fionnphort.

Staffa is an uninhabited Island, famouse for its basalt columbs and Fingals Cave. This is the Scottish side of the Giant's Causeway in Ireland.

Most visits to Staffa are from Fionnphort. Some tours can be taken from Oban that consist of a ferry trip to Craignure on the southeast side of Mull, bus trip to Fionnphort on the west side of Mull, then the boat trip to Staffa.

Many people that visit Staffa, also visit the Island of Iona at the same time, as they are in the same area.
