Citadel Carlisle
The twin towers of the Citadel are situated about 300 yards south of the town hall by the train station. They were built in 1810 to be used for courts and a prison. The earlier entrance here from the 1100s was named Botcher Gate. One of the towers is now often open to the public. This is one of the top photo spots in Carlisle.
